Everyone keeps talking about AI. Let me actually show you.
One-on-one lessons and group workshops across Perth, taught slowly and in plain English. No jargon, no homework, and no assumption that you already know something.
- No experience needed
- Your home, or over video
- We go at your pace
- Groups and clubs welcome
One-on-one
At your kitchen table, or over a video call if you'd rather not have anyone in the house. We use your own device and your own real questions — the letter you actually need to write, not a made-up exercise.
- Completely at your pace — repetition is fine
- Set up properly on your own phone, tablet or computer
- Written notes left behind afterwards
Group workshops
A relaxed, hands-on session for a club, retirement village, community group, library or workplace. Everyone brings their own device and leaves with it set up and working — not just having watched a slideshow.
- Good for groups of roughly 6 to 20
- I bring the patience; you bring the tea
- Handouts for everyone to take home
Things you can actually use it for
Not theory, and nothing to do with robots. These are the jobs people bring me most often.
Write the awkward letter
Complaints to a company, a note to the council, a speech for a wedding, a message you keep putting off. You say what you mean; it finds the words.
Make sense of paperwork
Paste in a confusing bill, an insurance policy, or a letter from the hospital and have it explained back to you in plain words you can act on.
Plan things properly
Trips, days out, meals for the week, a gift for a grandchild who likes something you have never heard of. It is very good at the fiddly planning bits.
Ask instead of searching
Get a straight answer to a real question without wading through pages of adverts — and know how to ask so the answer is actually useful.
Use it on your own device
We set it up on the phone, tablet or computer you already own, so it's there and working after I leave. Nothing new to buy.
Know when not to trust it
The important half. Where it gets things confidently wrong, what you should never type into it, and how to spot AI being used against you in a scam.
What a lesson actually looks like
Tell me where you’re starting
Ring or message and say honestly how much you've used before — for most people the answer is nothing at all, and that's the easiest place to start.
We sit down together
At your kitchen table or over a video call, on your own device. You do the typing — I sit beside you and explain what is happening and why.
You keep the notes
I leave written step-by-step instructions in plain English, so a week later you can still do it on your own without ringing anyone.
The things people ask me first
Yes — and honestly, it suits you better than it suits a lot of younger people. You don't need to learn any commands or menus. You type a question the way you'd say it out loud, and it answers. If you can send a text message, you can do this.
No. The tools we'll use have free versions that are perfectly good for everything I teach, and we'll set them up on the phone, tablet or computer you already own. If a paid version would genuinely suit you better I'll say so, but I don't sell it and I don't earn anything from it.
Most people get what they need from a single session of an hour or two. Some prefer two shorter visits a week apart, so there's time to practise in between. We'll work out what suits you when you ring.
Yes, and it often works better — people relax when they realise everyone else is in the same boat. I run sessions for clubs, retirement villages, community groups, church groups, libraries and workplaces. Bring your own devices and we'll all set them up together.
Good instinct, and we cover it properly. There is a real difference between using an AI tool yourself and being targeted by someone else using one. I'll show you what's safe to type in, what should never go near it, and what an AI-written scam message actually looks like so you can recognise one.
That's why I leave written notes — the exact steps, in plain English, for the things you said you wanted to do. And if you get stuck later, ring me. A two-minute reminder over the phone doesn't cost you anything.
You'll be fine at this. Really.
Ring me and describe what you'd like to be able to do. If AI is the wrong tool for it, I'll tell you that too — and probably show you an easier way.
